Examine Yourself

Examine Yourself

APOSTOLIC HOLINESS TEMPLE APRIL 5, 2020 Edition 1, Volume 1

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: ELECT LADY S. EDWARDS

2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV) Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

· Self-Examination Definition – Careful examination of your own behavior and beliefs to see whether they are good or bad.

1. Examine – inspect (someone or something) in detail to determine their nature or condition; investigate thoroughly: (Synonyms – inspect, scrutinize, investigate, look at, study, scan, sift through, appraise, analyze, review, evaluate, check out)

a. Inspect – look at (someone or something) closely, typically to assess their condition or to discover any shortcomings:

b. Analyze – examine methodically and in detail.

2. Prove – demonstrate the truth or existence of (something) by evidence or argument: (Synonyms – manifest, produce evidence, witness to, verify, validate, authenticate, confirm

3. Reprobates - Disapproved with abhorrence; rejected; abandoned to wickedness or to destruction.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (KJV)

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

(Your Heart has to be examined, Your Intents have to be examined, Your Actions have to be examined)

Psalms 139:23-24

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Ø Know – be aware of thorough observation, inquiry, or information

Self-Examination:

· Self-examination is necessary so that we correct ourselves on a regular basis to make certain we are ready for the rapture and that we are honoring God through holy living.

· Self-examination could involve looking at yourself from three different angles:

Ø What do other people see in you (a witness or not)?

Ø What do you see in yourself?

Ø What does God see in you?

· Find out where your weaknesses are and strengthen those areas.

· God only gives us so much time to repent, after that……judgement!

· Before we take tests in school, we study and self-examine to make sure we know what we need to know for passing the test

· We don’t know what the questions will be, only the material to be covered

· The reason we have to go through tests is to see how much we know

· Always look back and scan how you did things and measure it against God’s Word (Judge Yourself)

· The Holy Ghost is the tutor, leading, guiding and helping you to be ready for every test

· God has to see what you got; It’s not a talk, it’s a walk! We will be tested!

· Self-examination happens before a test (Preparation) and after a test has passed (Reflection)

Know Who You Are and Who You Are Not:

· Nobody knows you like you know you……...except for God!

· What do you do when God shows you,… “YOU”!

· Every time you think you have arrived to a certain level, here comes God to show you that you’re not where you think you are

Psalms 119:59 (KJV)

40 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

Lamentations 3:40 (KJV)

40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.

Watch what you say!

Watch your behavior on your job! Are you in the break room gossiping? Who are you comfortable enough to tell your personal business to? Are you backstabbing the boss at work? Are you complaining about the job, that you promised to work during your interview? Are you calling in with lies (deceits, untruth’s)?

Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Who are you hanging out with on a regular basis?

Are you loving to your family: husband, wife, children, mother, or father?
